Two-time Tony nominee Christopher Sieber will return to Broadway's Chicago as cunning lawyer Billy Flynn on Christmas Day. This marks Sieber's fourth engagement as Billy; he previously played the slickster during two separate engagements in 2004, and again in 2011. Sieber takes over for country star Billy Ray Cyrus, who concludes his run on December 23.
Set in the 1920s, Chicago follows Roxie Hart (Amy Spanger), a housewife and nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover. Desperate to avoid conviction, she hires Billy Flynn (Sieber), Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer, much to the dismay of her rival cellmate Velma Kelly (Amra-Faye Wright). Directed by Walter Bobbie, the Tony-winning revival is now in its 16th year.
Sieber earned Tony nods for Shrek and Spamalot. His other Broadway credits include La Cage aux Folles, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Into the Woods, Beauty and the Beast and Triumph of Love.
In addition to Spanger and Wright, the Tony-winning revival currently stars Carol Woods as Matron “Mama” Morton, R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine and Raymond Bokhour as Amos Hart.
